Today, more than ever, we need our truckers. They deliver the stuff you need while COVID-19 keeps them stuck at home. Whether it is the essentials you have on your Amazon Subscribe and Save… or the pallet of Ramen, the likelihood a trucker got it to you is nearly 100%. How might we make their lives better and safer?
We observed how a trucker works, and surprisingly, it wasn’t just driving. I mean, there is a lot of driving. A LOT… We found that they constantly have to talk to their dispatch about what they are supposed to do. Can you imagine how frustrating that is for them? When they arrive to pick up or drop off a load somewhere, it’s never the same process 100% of the time. Those of us used to ordering products in an app and it just appears outside our door don’t think about what went into getting it there.
Drivers, have to do a lot of waiting besides driving too. Wait in line to weigh your tractor and trailer. Then, wait in line to check in. And, then, wait to know where to go, and wait to unload.
Imagine being a driver, and you come in to see this:
There are so many areas, that can be a bottleneck. For example, the clerk facing numerous interruptions while checking people in and is facing interruptions fromproblems having nothing to do with the driver. Wouldn’t be nice for the driver, if they had an app, that took all of that headache away? Keep them safely in their truck, away from the busy lots, with other drivers driving like crazy to get out of there, and back to driving. These are busy people, with tight schedules. We should want to empower them to do their job faster and more safely. Especially, during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
So how about taking your check-In process from something similar to that shown above, to something like this, which utilizes the SAP Cloud Platform?
