SAP Fiori, the official UX strategy for all of SAP has come a long way since it’s humble beginnings of 25 apps, and formerly as a paid product: (See my blog from Sapphire 2014)
The apps catalog has now passed 10,000 apps! (10,202 to be exact)
At Mindset, we’ve mostly custom-built through Design Thinking and Agile hundreds of apps, but this catalog is growing and creating a whole new value proposition.
I usually start out my digital enterprise seminars saying, “SAP Fiori is 3 things:”
- A Cohesive UX Strategy with evolving technologies (SAPUI5, iOS SDK, Smart Views, etc.)
- A set of Design Guidelines (As you get to 1000+ apps, they should look similar to one another)
- A set of apps.
The 3rd point – this set of apps has been growing. But in practicality many companies weren’t using the out of the box apps. The big difference now is that many significant S/4 HANA implementations with the Fiori-first UX strategy are accelerating the transition to these apps, and the average app maturity is now getting to the point of acceptability.
